In Mandela's footstep: Robben Island

On Saturday, we took the ferry to go to Robben Island, a historical Jail were Nelson Mandela and other political leaders were emprisoned. This island is 55 minutes away from Cape Town and from the ferry we saw seals!

On the island, a bus was waiting for us. A guide explained many facts on the island and the prisoners. It was really interesting even if we were not able to understand every single word.

We visited the island and then we went to the prison.

A former prisoner talked about their life during emprisonment and how they were treated according to the colour of their skins!

It was such a dream to be there and visit the prison cells. We all took a picture of Mandela's cells!

We were very touched by this last outing.

Tomorrow we are going back to the island with our hearts and minds full of memories!
